Why voice-first changes everything
Household apps have been around for twenty years. Most of them still ask you to translate a thought into the right form field in the right module. Homio asks you to say it out loud. That small shift changes the whole product.
Two kinds of AI household assistants
The newest AI apps in this space — like Maple — are impressive. They read incoming email, parse school notices and bills, and turn them into tasks. That's reactive AI: it handles information that arrives at you.
Homio solves a different problem: the thought that pops into your head while you're cooking, driving, or half-asleep. "We need milk." "Dentist Friday at ten." "Let's do pasta Wednesday." Nobody emailed you that. You need to offload outgoing mental load — fast, in one tap, without deciding which app deserves it.
Thought Dumper: one button, structured actions
Homio's Thought Dumper is a floating microphone on every screen. Hold it, speak naturally (up to 60 seconds), and AI returns a preview of structured actions — add to shopping, create a task, schedule an event, plan a meal, log maintenance. You edit if needed, confirm once, done.
Voice is transcribed on-device with Apple's Speech Recognition. Your words don't leave your phone for transcription. Only the text (with household context) goes to our secure AI layer to parse intent — and you always see exactly what will happen before it does.
What Thought Dumper understands today
- Shopping items with automatic categories
- Tasks with due dates, times, assignees, and recurrence
- Household calendar events
- Meal plan entries linked to recipes
- Maintenance items and "mark done" actions
- Follow-up questions when something's ambiguous
Pantry has its own voice flow too — dictate what's in your fridge and Homio builds stock entries with quantities. Offline? A local keyword fallback still catches simple shopping and task phrases.
Calm by design, not by marketing
"AI household assistant" is easy to say and hard to trust. We lead with the feeling — calm, mental load relief — and the concrete use case: one button, say what you need, done. Not dashboards. Not gamified chore wars. Not another Cozi with a chatbot bolted on.
Homio is for couples and individuals building their first shared household: tech-comfortable, subscription-willing, tired of improvising grocery runs and forgetting maintenance. If that sounds like you, we're opening beta on August 1, 2026.
